Lagrangian Statistics

In the Lagrangian description, i.e., following individual fluid particles, the complexity of turbulence manifests itself in the curvature and tortuosity of the fluid particle trajectories. We recently characterized this complexity by measuring the directional change of the particles. We linked the statistics to Kolmogorov’s description of the Eulerian energy spectrum.
