Research Activities

Numerical simulation of flows (CFD) and numerical optimization with applications in aerospace engineering and energy engineering (with special interest for Marine Renewable Energy).

Supervised / jointly-supervised PhD theses over the past 3 years

  • PhD thesis (ongoing) of Cristina Ghitiu : Physical model for nuclear containment aspersion analysis based on 0D design codes. Joint supervision with Serge Simoëns (LMFA) and Emmanuel Demay (EDF). Funding EDF. CIFRE PhD started on March 2018.
  • PhD thesis (ongoing) of Cong-Huan Phan : A low-Mach / acoustic solver for fluid/structure interaction problems. Joint supervision with Alberto Beccantini (CEA). Funding CEA. PhD started on November 2017.
  • PhD thesis (ongoing) of Paolo Errante : Simulation of spray injection and its influence on a gaseous stream. Joint supervision with Sylvain Nichele (SuperGrid) and Samir Makhlouf (SuperGrid). Funding Institut SuperGrid. CIFRE PhD thesis started on November 2016.
  • PhD thesis of Lucas Seguinot : Study and development of a strategy for the performance analysis of an helicopter engine breather. Joint supervision with Jean-Paul Thibault (LEGI). Funding Safran Helicopter Engines. CIFRE PhD thesis defended on the 27th of October 2017.
  • PhD thesis of Mathieu Soismier : Structured / unstructured hybrid solution strategy for the simulation of technological effects in turbomachinery. Joint supervision with Lionel Castillon (ONERA) and Claude Marmignon (ONERA). Funding CIRT / Safran. CIFRE PhD thesis defended on the 17th of October 2017.

Teaching Activities

  • since 09/2014 : fluid mechanics / energetics and numerical simulation at Ecole Centrale de Lyon.
    Supervision of "Projet d’Etudes" (1st year projects) and "Projet d’Application Recherche" (2nd year research projects)
  • 2006-2014 : teaching related to numerical methods, compressible and incompressible flow modeling and simulation, heat transfer, shape optimization at ENSE3 and in the framework of the Research Master (M2R) Fluid Mechanics and Energetics in Grenoble.
    Supervision of 2nd-year internships and Final Projects (PFE) for ENSE3 engineering students in Nuclear Energy Engineering and Mechanics & Energetics departments, supervision of master theses for the students enrolled in the Fluid Mechanics & Energetics Master (M2R).
  • 1996-2006 : teaching related to Aerodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics at Arts et Métiers Paris Tech and in the framework of the Master of Science M2R Mécanique des Fluides.
    Supervision of Final Year Projects for engineering students and master theses.

Administrative duties

  • since 2017 : deputy at ECL Direction des Etudes, in charge of partnership with companies (in coordination with ECL Direction du Développement des Relations avec les Entreprises)
  • since 2016 : in charge of the Teaching Unit "Fluids and Energy", one of the core courses given in the first year of engineering studies at ECL. Coordinator (ECL) for the master’s program "Fluid Mechanics and Energetics".
  • 2015-2018 : coordinator of the common course proposed by Centre des Hautes Etudes Lyon Sciences devoted to the progress.
  • 2014 : head of the International Relations Office at ’ENSE3.
  • 2012-2013 : Education Officer for the Collocation Center "France" of the Knowledge and Innovation Community KIC Inno Energy
  • 2011-2014 : head of the international Research Master program "Fluid Mechanics & Energetics" (joint program between Grenoble-INP and Joseph Fourier University)
