My PhD subject is about the effect of shaping on the Reversed Field Pinch (RFP) dynamics. RFPs are a type of nuclear fusion reactors, using magnetic confinement, where the toroidal magnetic field and the poloidal one are of the same order.
Our model is based on the Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations combined with a volume penalization method. These equations are solved using a pseudo-spectral code developed by LMFA.
