Computational Modelling of Sound Propagation through Unsteady Flows

Computational aero-acoustic (CAA) aims to simulate sound propagation and generation by un-steady flows. It finds numerous real-world applications, particularly in the transportation industries (aircraft noise, high-speed trains) and the energy industry (wind turbine noise). This project aimsto develop efficient computational methods to predict the propagation of sound in unsteady flows.For this purpose the Discontinuous Galerkin Method (DGM) will be used and validated. It is afast, high-order numerical scheme for aero-acoustics, strongly scalable for parallel calculations.
