pH measurements using inhibited fluorescence

Project

Context: Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence methods allow the local, instantaneous and multi-point measurement of a scalar quantity of the flow (Concentration, temperature, pH ...). When applied to non optically thin systems or multiphase flows, absorption issues make it impossible to deduce the scalar value from only the measurement of fluoresced light intensity: the knowlege of localr excitation intensity is also required.

Objective: Development of a pH sensitive, Inhibited PLIF method applicable to multiphase flows, complex fluids, and non optically thin systems.

Method: Spectrofluorimetric characterisation, In-situ calibration in simple (water) and complex fluids (dilute polymer solutions), application to monophasic (jet) and diphasic (bubble) test flows.
